Reset Admin Password

To reset the admin password in Mirth Connect, you will need to manually connect to the database and reset via the Derby database tools.

Step 1: Open a "Command Prompt" with Administrator privileges.

Step 2: "cd" into the Mirth Installation. Please use the correct path for the installed version.

Step 3: Run java command to start Derby tools.

Command:
    java -cp derbytools-10.10.2.0.jar;derby-10.10.2.0.jar org.apache.derby.tools.ij

Important files are ( If your version is different, please use the correct filenames on command ):
   derbytools-10.10.2.0.jar
   derby-10.10.2.0.jar

Troubleshoot:
   If you get an error that it is unable to connect to Mirth database, this mean Mirth Service is still running and needs to be stopped before able to connect to it.

Step 4: Connect to Mirth Database

Command:
  connect 'jdbc:derby:C:\Program Files\Mirth Connect\appdata\mirthdb';

Step 5: Select id, usernames from the database. In most cases it will only be the admin user with an ID of 1.

Command:
   select id, username from person;

Step 6: Update password to "admin" by running the following SQL statement and exiting by typing "quit;"

SQL:
  update person_password set password='SALT_Np+FZYzu4M0=NdgB6ojoGb/uFa5amMEyBNG16mE=' WHERE person_id=1;

At this point you can re-start the Mirth Service and attempt to log in again using "admin" for username and password.
